Popcorn Balls

You can't have halloween without popcorn balls. Lots of fun for kids and adults.

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup pure sorgum syrup
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
2 quarts popped popcorn
1 tablespoons butter

Place all ingredients, except popcorn and butter into a sauce pan. Cook on medium high to 250 degrees on your candy thermometer, stirring pretty steadily. When mixture reaches desired temperature remove from heat and stir in popcorn. Spread out wax paper and thoroughly butter your hands. When mixture cools sufficiently, using your hands, make balls from mixture and place on wax paper.
