Bread with Garlic Spread
Plain hot bread with a garlic spread complements our Harry Potter table of 13 meal. This recipe presumes that you have a bread machine (the next best thing to a house elf to do your cooking for you).
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cups (plus two tablespoons) water
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
3 teaspoons butter
3 or more elephant garlic bulbs
Add water, flour, sugar, salt, yeast and two teaspoons butter to bread machine pan and set to make dough. (The machine usually takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete this process.)
Slice off the top quarter of each garlic bulb so that you can see just a bit of each clove. Spread butter over the top of the garlic. Place in covered glass pan. Put in 375 degree oven for 1 hour (more or less depending on your liking for garlic - longer makes it sweeter).
When dough has finished, remove from pan and stretch into two baguettes. Place on greased flat pizza pan. Let rise until doubles (about 45 minutes). Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees F.
Slice bread diagonally (Diagon Alley) and place in bread basket. Place each garlic bulb on separate small plate and place around basket. Each individual can prepare his own bread by squeezing out the garlic and spreading with a knife.
