*Nutty Sour Cream Cookies*
It is well known that Santa is fond of cookies as he makes his rounds on Christmas Eve. Through delicate inquiries made to Mrs. Claus at the North Pole, we have found out that Sour Cream Cookies are his favorite. Here's the recipe:
2 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt (less salt is okay if you are on a low-salt diet)
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1 egg
1/2 cup sour cream
Put all dry ingredients into large bowl. Mix. Now add in butter, you may want to beat it for 30 seconds or so to make it more pliable. Add in egg and vanilla. Finally, add in sour cream and beat the mixture.
Drop teaspoon size dollops onto greased cookie sheet and bake in a 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. Cookies should be lightly browned. You will want to immediately remove them from the cookie sheet and place to cool on a wire rack. (The wire rack prevents moisture from condensing under the cookies making them soggy.)
These cookies may be frosted.
This recipe makes 3-4 dozen.
